exif_thumbnail Function synopsis

exif_thumbnail(
    $file,
    &$width = null,
    &$height = null,
    &$image_type = null
  ): string|false

Parameters

$file

The location of the image file. This can either be a path to the file or a stream resource.

$width

Passed by reference, OptionalDefault valuenull

The return width of the returned thumbnail.

$height

Passed by reference, OptionalDefault valuenull

The returned height of the returned thumbnail.

$image_type

Passed by reference, OptionalDefault valuenull

The returned image type of the returned thumbnail. This is either TIFF or JPEG.

Note that the parameters $width, $height, and $image_type are passed by reference, and contain additional/updated context data that may be useful.

Return value

Typestring|false

Returns the embedded thumbnail, or false if the image contains no thumbnail.
