checkdnsrr Function synopsis

checkdnsrr(string $hostname, string $type = "MX"): bool

Parameters

$hostname

Typestring

$hostname may either be the IP address in dotted-quad notation or the host name.

$type

OptionalTypestringDefault value"MX"

$type may be any one of: A, MX, NS, SOA, PTR, CNAME, AAAA, A6, SRV, NAPTR, TXT or ANY.

$type accepts one of the following string values:

  • A
  • MX
  • NS
  • SOA
  • PTR
  • CNAME
  • AAAA
  • A6
  • SRV
  • NAPTR
  • TXT
  • ANY

Return value

Typebool

Returns true if any records are found; returns false if no records were found or if an error occurred.

  • Return type added: bool
  • Parameter name of parameter #1 changed: $host to $hostname
  • Parameter type added for parameter #1 ($hostname): string
  • Parameter type added for parameter #2 ($type): string
